Mom knew exactly what to do. She called Cubis over with a big smile and said, “Come on, little one, time for your bath!” Cubis’ eyes lit up with excitement—not dread—because he loved bath time. It meant warm water, gentle scrubbing, and lots of splashing fun. With a happy squeak, he hopped toward the tub, his little tail swishing from side to side.
The water was just the right temperature, and as soon as Cubis stepped in, he began splashing with joy. Mom laughed and carefully poured water over his soft fur, making sure every bit was clean and fresh. She used a gentle soap that smelled like flowers, rubbing it into a bubbly lather that made Cubis giggle. The bubbles stuck to his fur, forming funny shapes—first a foamy crown, then a silly beard. Cubis clapped his tiny hands, enjoying every moment.
Once the bath was done, Mom wrapped him in a fluffy towel and patted him dry. Cubis snuggled into the warm fabric, enjoying the cozy feeling. His fur was now soft, shiny, and smelling wonderful—perfect for the big welcome. But the preparations weren’t over yet.
Next came the dressing up. Mom had picked out a cute little outfit just for this occasion—a neat shirt with bright colors and tiny pants that fit perfectly. Cubis stood still (well, as still as an excited young monkey can) while Mom buttoned his shirt and adjusted his collar. Once he was dressed, she gently brushed his fur, smoothing it down so he looked extra handsome.
Cubis checked himself in the mirror, tilting his head and grinning. He knew he looked good. More importantly, he felt ready to greet Dad with the biggest, warmest welcome possible.
As the time got closer, Cubis waited near the doorway, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. The moment he saw Dad approaching in the distance, he let out a joyful cry and raced forward. Dad scooped him up in a loving hug, laughing as Cubis wrapped his arms tightly around his neck.
All the care, all the bath bubbles, all the dressing up—it was worth it just to see Dad’s happy smile. Cubis knew that looking clean and smart was a wonderful way to show love, but the biggest gift was the hug they shared that evening.
