SO Sad Baby Monkey

From the very first scene, you’ll notice something is not right. The baby monkey sits all alone in the corner of his enclosure. His little arms are wrapped around his legs, and his eyes—those big, beautiful eyes—look empty. He doesn’t move much. He doesn’t reach out for help. He just sits quietly, as if waiting for someone who may never come back.

This baby monkey was either abandoned, rejected by his mother, or separated due to trauma or illness—we’re not completely sure. What we do know is that his body shows signs of weakness, and his emotions show signs of deep loss. Monkeys are incredibly social animals. They rely on their mothers for warmth, food, comfort, and love. And when they lose that bond at such a young age, it leaves a wound that’s not just physical—it’s emotional.

As the video progresses, we try to offer him care. A small bottle of warm milk is brought close to him, and at first, he shows no interest. It takes gentle whispers and the soft touch of a caregiver to convince him that he is safe. Slowly, cautiously, he reaches for the bottle. His tiny hands shake, but he manages to drink. That moment alone is powerful—it tells us that despite the sadness in his heart, he still wants to live.

Our team works patiently, trying everything we can to comfort him. Warm blankets, gentle cuddles, soft toys, and the calming presence of older monkeys who might become surrogate family members. At one point, an older female monkey nearby—possibly sensing his sorrow—approaches and gently places a hand on his back. It’s a brief moment, but it feels like a silent message: you are not alone.

The baby monkey responds slowly. With each hour, he begins to move a little more. He snuggles closer to warmth, opens his eyes more often, and starts to make soft, baby monkey sounds. These may seem like small signs to many, but to us, they are signs of hope.
