Then Mimi approached slowly, tilting her head. She reached out a hand to touch the “stranger.” Her fingers met cold glass. She flinched, then leaned closer, inspecting the shiny surface.
Suddenly, the babies ran forward, laughing and bouncing with excitement. They saw two other baby monkeys mimicking their every move — jumping, spinning, scratching.
Tika stood on one leg. The “mirror monkey” did the same.
Lilo stuck out her tongue. So did the reflection.
They gasped in amazement and tried to go behind the mirror to find the hidden monkey friends. But no matter how much they searched, there was no one there.
At one point, Coco got fed up. He thought the mirror monkey was mocking him. He smacked the glass with both hands — thud! — and stumbled backward. Startled, the rest of the monkeys ran into the bushes, only to peek back seconds later, their eyes wide.
The funniest part came when Mimi tried to groom her reflection. She carefully picked at the mirror, thinking she was helping a friend remove bugs. When her hand met the hard glass again, she looked around confused, then made a frustrated squeak.
For the next hour, the monkeys danced, played, fought, and puzzled in front of the mirror. It was a chaotic mix of laughter, squeals, and confusion. Even the elder monkeys peeked over from the trees with suspicious eyes.
From a distance, Lina smiled, quietly recording every moment. The mirror had become the jungle’s surprise entertainment.
Eventually, the troop lost interest and returned to their trees. But every now and then, one of the baby monkeys would sneak back to look into the strange glass and wave to the “other side.”
