LiLi saw her brother, Momo, with a brand-new hairstyle. The caretakers had gently trimmed Momo’s hair because it had gotten too wild and messy. Now, instead of his fluffy, puffy look, Momo had a clean, neat head of fur that made him look quite different.
To the human eye, Momo looked adorable — tidy, fresh, and cute as ever. But to little LiLi? He looked like a total stranger.
The moment LiLi saw him, she paused mid-step, squinting with confusion. Her little head tilted to the side. Her eyes widened, then narrowed. She let out a soft squeak, clearly unsure. Momo chirped a friendly hello and reached out to touch her hand like always, but instead of hugging him like she usually did, LiLi jumped back with her arms in the air, clearly shocked.
It was as if she was thinking, “Who are you and what did you do to my brother?!”
Everyone around burst into laughter.
Momo was confused at first. He looked at the caretakers as if asking, “What’s wrong with her?” Then he looked down at himself, touched his own head, and seemed to realize — “Ohhh, it must be the haircut.”
LiLi kept circling him slowly, sniffing the air, watching his every move. She tried to peek under his chin, maybe searching for the old Momo she knew. But no matter how much she sniffed or looked, she still wasn’t convinced. Every time Momo came close, she ran off a few steps and peeked at him from behind a tree or a box, her tiny face full of suspicion and confusion.
Her expressions were priceless — from shocked, to puzzled, to dramatically betrayed. She even hid behind the caretaker’s leg at one point, peeking out as if watching a scene from a horror movie!
After about twenty minutes of hilarious reactions and dramatic avoidance, LiLi finally gave in a little. Momo sat quietly with a banana in his hand, offering it to her. She tiptoed forward, snatched the banana, and ran back, but she didn’t run too far this time. Slowly, she began to warm up. She sat nearby, then inched closer minute by minute, still glancing at Momo’s hair as if wondering if it would grow back overnight.
By the end of the day, LiLi finally climbed onto Momo’s back, giving him a soft hug — though she still gave his new hair one last suspicious look.
It was a day full of laughs and playful drama. LiLi reminded everyone just how expressive and emotional monkeys can be. Her bond with her brother hadn’t changed — she just needed some time to accept that even siblings can have new looks sometimes!
