Out behind the barn, two tiny kittens—Mimi and Coco—were playing tag. They were young, curious, and easily startled. Their favorite game was pretending they were “brave explorers,” discovering new things around the farm. But today, they would discover something they had never imagined.
Bruno watched them from a distance, wagging his tail slowly as a silly plan formed in his mind. Because of his thick, fluffy fur, the farm animals often joked that he looked more like a sheep than a dog. So Bruno thought, Why not make that joke a reality?
He rolled in soft hay, shaking his fur until it puffed out into a giant cloud of fluff. He even walked to the meadow and rubbed himself against a patch of tall white flowers, collecting their petals like a costume. By the time he was done, he really did look like a round, gentle sheep.
Satisfied with his disguise, Bruno slowly trotted toward Mimi and Coco, making little “baa” sounds that were not quite right—but close enough for kittens who had never met a sheep up close.
Mimi froze immediately.
“C-Coco… do you see that?” she whispered, eyes huge.
Coco nodded, her tiny tail sticking straight up.
“Is that… a real sheep?! Why is it staring at us?”
Bruno moved closer, exaggerating his fluffy walk.
“Baaa… baaaa…” he said, trying not to giggle.
The kittens stepped back, unsure. They had seen pictures of sheep in a book in the farmhouse, but none looked as round or wobbly as this one. Still, they were explorers, and explorers needed to be brave.
Mimi took a deep breath and approached slowly.
“Um… hello, Mr. Sheep,” she squeaked.
Bruno stopped. He tilted his head dramatically, then suddenly jumped sideways in a silly bounce.
The kittens screamed—high, squeaky, adorable screams—and ran in circles before diving behind a bucket. Their little ears poked out as they peeked at the mysterious creature.
Bruno couldn’t hold it in any longer. He wagged his tail too hard, shaking off some hay. Then he let out a joyful bark.
The kittens blinked.
“Wait… SHEEP DON’T BARK!” Coco cried.
Mimi squinted. “That’s… that’s BRUNO!”
Bruno ran toward them in excitement, rolling on the ground and shedding the rest of his “sheep costume.” The kittens crawled out cautiously, then broke into giggles as they pawed at the hay stuck in his fur.
“You scared us!” Coco meowed, but she was laughing too hard to be angry.
Bruno gave her a playful lick on the head, wagging his tail even faster. He wasn’t trying to frighten them—only to make their day a little more exciting.
And honestly? It worked.
Soon, the three were tumbling together in the grass, Mimi riding on Bruno’s back while Coco pretended to shear his “sheep fluff.” The prank had turned into the best playtime adventure they’d had all week.
As the sun began to set, the kittens curled up next to their fluffy friend, purring happily. Bruno lay there smiling, proud of his silly, unforgettable trick.
